Where the office sits in south Minneapolis
Our rooms face the blocks between Lake Street and Hiawatha Avenue, and the light rail pulls in a short walk away before rolling south to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. By road, Terminal 1 lies about 7.3 miles from our door, roughly 15 minutes when nothing slows you down, and Terminal 2 about 8.9 miles, near 18 minutes. Sitting this close, we count your drive in minutes rather than miles.
What happens in each phone window
The office is run by its owner-manager, who takes the calls in both windows and places each reservation with the lot. Every day has two phone windows, an early one and one running from late afternoon into the evening; the site lists both. Between them, the request form stays open 24/7. When a window opens, we read each new request, work out which lots near MSP lie on that driver's route to the right terminal, and ask those lots about room for the dates.
Then we phone or text back with the lot and its address, the daily rate, the total for your dates, how its shuttle runs and where it stops at your terminal, and what the lot does about changes and late returns. The quote costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Say yes and we reserve the space, then read the reservation back to you. Say no and the request is simply closed.
How the lots and the office fit together
Independent companies run the lots near the airport, each with its own rates, shuttle and rules, and we reserve with them on your behalf. Our regular places are the two Bloomington lots off I-494 and 34th Avenue South, the Highland Park lot on Davern Street, the Eagan lot on Lexington Avenue South, and hotels that sell parking without a room. You pay the lot, at the lot or the way it asks. The lot companies pay the office for each reservation we send them, and that is how the office earns its keep. Every daily figure on this site, such as open-air space from $15 a day, is set to take in the fees a lot requires; on the callback we name each fee the lot adds and give the total, and the lot adds Minnesota sales tax on top. Your part before we reserve
We ask for a phone number, your terminal, the drop-off and pick-up dates with times, the area you drive from, the kind of space, the vehicle and a name. Your terminal is printed on your boarding pass; please check it before we reserve, because each terminal has its own shuttle stop. Mention electric charging, a lift on the shuttle or a trailer in the note, and we ask the lot first; nothing of that kind is promised until the lot says yes.
